Stapleton Railway Station was not a place you wanted to visit. Badly lit and surrounded by derelict land, people would avoid going there to catch the trains.
A group of permaculturists had the idea of transforming the surrounding land into a community gardening project, and in 2008 Eastside Roots was born.
With the help of the volunteers, they have transformed the land into an inviting garden space, that has not only seen people return to using the train station but provides the community with food and plant produce, skills and knowledge, and a venue for events.
